Xbox addict 'dies from blood clot'

The family of a budding computer programmer have on Saturday launched a campaign to raise awareness about the health risks of playing online computer games after their son died following a marathon session on his Xbox.
A post-mortem revealed that 20-year-old Chris Staniforth, who was offered a place to study Game Design at Leicester University was killed by a pulmonary embolism, which can occur if someone sits in the same position for several hours.
Deep vein thrombosis normally affects passengers on long-haul flights, but medical experts fear youngsters who spend hours glued to their consoles might also be at risk and have urged them to take regular breaks.
Professor Brian Colvin, an expert on blood-related conditions said it was "unhealthy" for youngsters to spend long periods in front of their consoles.
"There's anxiety about obesity and children not doing anything other than looking at computer screens," he told The Sun.
David Staniforth has now launched a campaign to warn other parents of the dangers. "Games are fun and once you've started playing it's hard to stop. "Kids all over the country are playing these games for long periods, they don't realise it could kill them," he told The Sun.
A coroner's court in Sheffield was told how the youngster -- who had no underlying medical conditions -- was complaining of a low heart rate before collapsing outside a Jobcentre.
Staniforth's distraught father said his son would spend up to 12 hours playing on his Xbox.
"He got sucked in playing Halo online against people from all over the world."
Online computer games are extremely popular as thousands interact in shared science fiction worlds.
Reports of gamers collapsing after spending 15 hours in front of video games are fairly common throughout Asia.
In 2005, a South Korean gamer died after playing online games for three days without taking a break.
Microsoft -- which manufactures the Xbox -- said it "recommend gamers take breaks to exercise as well as make time for other pursuits."

I was wondering why we don’t have such reports in Nigeria, but it occurred to me that we can never have steady power supply and PHCN themselves have decided to hold the power, so no one has time to stay three days in front of game.

Balotelli not happy in England

The controversial Italian international joined City from Inter in the summer of 2010, but has not been able to adapt to his new surroundings, and has now seemingly set his sights on a switch back to Serie A.

"I am not feeling well in Manchester. I am happy with the coach and with my team-mates, however, I do not like the city of Manchester," Balotelli was quoted as saying by Sky Sport.

"I do not know whether I will stay at Manchester City. We will see what happens. I miss my home, which is Brescia not Milan, and I miss my friends and my family."

The 20-year-old was linked with a move to AC Milan last year, and Balotelli has admitted that he would be open to a move to San Siro if the Serie A champions came calling.

"Milan are a great club. We can talk about it in the future," concluded the striker.

Balotelli has a contract with City until the summer of 2015 and Roberto Mancini's side, who have recently been rocked by a transfer request from captain Carlos Tevez, are unlikely to want to lose the Italian, who netted nine times in 28 appearances for the club last season.

John Travolta has been added to the cast of 'Expendables 2'

The 'Grease' actor has reportedly joined an all-star line-up of actors, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Statham, for the sequel to the 2010 action film - which was directed by Sylvester Stallone - to be filmed in Bulgaria.

David Varod, Chief Executive Officer of NU Boyana studios, said: "It is going to be a sequel to the 'The Expendables'. The shooting is going to take place the second week of September. The movie is on, definitely. It will be a very good thing for Bulgaria, since there are some very big stars coming."
When asked who will star in the movie, he added: "Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, John Travolta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke. Who else? Of course, Bruce Willis."

David revealed 'Con-Air' director Simon West is helming the project - which is rumoured to have Bruce lined up to play the main bad guy, with Jean-Claude thought to be set for the secondary villain role - and he thinks it will be "better" than the first movie.

He said: "The director is Simon West, who is also a name. He is already here and has started working on the film. I believe the sequel will be better than the first movie."

Aba boys watch out o, I’m very sure the movie would be out on VCD and selection even before they are done with the shooting of the movie.
Naija I hail o...

50 Cent refuses to release new album

50 Cent has now refused to release his new album “Black Magic”, as his conflict with Interscope records rumbles on.  50 Cent released a series of Twitter rants against his label, earlier threatening to leak label-mate Dr Dre's new single Psycho. 50 tweeted: "Your gonna love it it's a big song. I just don't think it deserves a great set up sense, they [Interscope] can't seem to get it right when it comes to me." He later back-tracked, apologising to Dre. According to the Huffington Post, he tweeted back in June that he had tried to improve the relationship with his record company, but was running out of patience: "Ok I tried to be cool with my record company. I went to the meeting talk to everyone and sh*t feel like they are moving in slow motion."

Rolling Stone have reported that his patience now seems to have run dry, as he tweeted: "Man I'm not releasing a album i can't believe interscope is this f*cked up right now. I apologize to all my fans." He later clarified his position, claiming that he would still work on other artists' albums, but did not want to work on another solo album because the label "dropped the ball with me one time too many."

These Ghanian movie makers should not kill our guys o.
The actor crash-landed on a concrete floor when he fell from a building whilst trying a stunt on a movie set in Kumasi.     Though official medical reports are not yet available, it is feared the actor might have suffered internal bleeding as he reportedly complained of acute waist pains while medics attended to his blood-filled mouth.

He was on the set with top actors Nana Ama McBrown, Beverly Afaglo, Roslyn Ngissah, Nana Hayford and a number of accomplished actors shooting a movie titled ‘Hotel Babylon: Where Clothes Are Naked’, directed by Kobi Rana, when the incident occurred.
The movie was extensively shot in Kumasi at the Senator Hotel at Tanoso. Ramsey fell in love with the script, hence he tried to give it his best to make sure the movie comes out well. The accident attracted crew members and director Kobi Rana, who immediately rushed to his side for fear of the unexpected.
